Summary

Implements and administers all policies and procedures related to Sales, to include the direct and indirect supervision of Sales Representatives and Merchandisers within the assigned operating district of SAS. Seeks out new business opportunities to grow sales volume and increase profitability. Maintains a regular call frequency on chain accounts within specified region of SAS.

Essential Functions

  • Seeks out new business opportunities to grow sales volume and increase profitability.
  • Nurtures a full partnership relationship between SAS and its customers.
  • Conducts regular “ride-a-longs” with Sales Representatives to evaluate performance and ensure the SAS sales call process standards are being met.
  • Conducts regular sales meetings.
  • Maintains sales standards by district, sales representative, and account.
  • Responsible for the implementation of sales policies and procedures throughout the assigned district.
  • Ensures that duties, responsibilities, authority, and accountability of all subordinates are defined and understood.
  • Maintains an on‑going liaison between SAS, its Sales Representatives, and customers.

  • Must have a participative management style and be an advocate of team concept.
  • Must be computer literate (Microsoft Office, Internet & Cellular/Wireless devices.)

Supervisory Responsibility

  • Directly responsible for all sales within the assigned geographical territory, including but not limited to, regional and local chains.
  • Internal peers include all other Managers within the company. External peers include other Manager‑level sales executives.
  • Customer merchandising and program implementation.
  • Staff scheduling.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This is largely a traveling position with stops as necessary at customer locations and meetings with sales personnel. However, there will be some office time. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand, use the computer, etc.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Hours listed are general hours and may be altered as needed. Additional hours may be required to fulfill job duties and position expectations.

Travel

Daily travel is expected for this position.

Education and Experience

  • Must have the verbal, quantitative, and interpersonal skills normally acquired through the completion of a Bachelor's Degree.
  • Must have a minimum of five years direct sales and management experience with emphasis on national and regional accounts.
  • Must have extensive experience in direct supervision of sales personnel.
